Our Special Day

Today I celebrated my fifth Mother's Day. Five years ago today I gave birth to a little girl. I had always dreamed about being a Mommy, but I could never have dreamed about how much one little girl would change my life. In the weeks leading up to Ellie's fifth birthday, I would fake cry whenever we would discuss her age. The truth is she is so amazingly talented and I am looking forward to seeing what life's journey has for her.

To celebrate Ellie's birthday we took her and a friend to the zoo on Friday.

And the celebrating continued today with cake, games and presents.

The one thing my little rockstar wanted more than anything was a purple guitar. I was so excited that we were able to find her one.

As I was walking around at the zoo, in 90 degree heat, carrying a five pound backpack, I began to comprehend all the little things that Mom's do that go unnoticed. Moms are cooks, chauffeurs, maids, laundresses, seamstresses, hair stylists, event planners, coaches, teachers, and many other things. Thanks Mom for all the things you've done for me. I love you!!!

Oh how adorable. What precious words you wrote and of course you made me cry. Can't wait to get my arms around MY little girl again. I miss you so very much. Being a mom is the most wonderful, rewarding and fulfilling thing I have ever done. Nothing even comes close to it.
