FALL...ing Behind

I may have fallen behind on my blogging, but this Fall has not fallen short of fun.

Since September, every Tuesday and Thursday has been spent watching Jackson play soccer. There were many laughs (by me), cheers (by Ellie), tears (by Jack) and aggravation (by Scott) this season.

Sadly though, soccer season concluded this past Tuesday with an awards ceremony. Ellie has gymnastics on Tuesdays, so I was unable to go to Jack's award ceremony. When I came home that evening, I was greeted by a very happy little boy wearing pajamas and hanging around his neck was his first medal.

He was so proud, When I went to kiss him goodnight before going to bed, this is what I found.

Saturdays this fall could be summed up in two words Alabama Football!!! Besides tailgating, we were able to take he kids to their first Bama game.

This past weekend the kids and I watched some of the game from the skybox. They loved it. Jackson's favorite part was when the ref threw a yellow flag on the field. Jackson laughed so hard because he thought it was a banana peel.

Of course it wouldn't be Fall without pumpkin carving, painting, and trick or treating. We went trick or treating on Sority Row this year, so we stayed home on Halloween night and roasted marshmellows while we passed out candy to other trick or treaters. So fun!

One of the most special thing we did this fall was visit Scott's parents in GA. This visit was so special because his grandfather's from Canada were visiting.

It was a beautiful weekend, We spent a lot of time outdoors.

A day after these photos were taken The Moore family contracted the H1N1 virus. And we lived to blog about it. I have always loved fall. And these are just a few reasons why.

Are You Ready For Some Football?

When summer ends that's when football begins! Our summers may be spent by the pool, but in the fall The Moore's are cheering on their favorite team. B-A-M-A Bama all the way!

Little Diva

Ok , so today, my four year old daughter squealed when she realized the Jonas Brother's were on TV; and for Christmas she wants an "ear pod" so she can listen to Hannah Montanna. At the start of the school year Ellie brought home the most adorable pictures of our family and God and the cross, but after only a few weeks those images were replaced by hearts and the names Ellie and Justin written at the top of each page. Boy am I in for it. And just so we're clear on one thing, the outfit was all her idea.

Incognito

A few months ago while the kids and I were doing a craft I painted the kids faces. As I looked at their faces disguised with a black mustache and big pink lips, I thought to myself why are my babies disguised as preschoolers and when did this happen. They are growing up so fast. The things they say amaze me.

One morning while getting ready for school, I told Ellie to take her PJ's to the laundry. She looked at me and began to cry saying "I just new you were going to tell me to do my chores and I don't want to." I told her that I don't want to do my chores and went on to list all the things that I do on a daily basis. When I finished I looked down into her little eyes. Her expression had totally changed and she said "well, I never knew you felt like that."

Also last Wednesday, when I was getting Ellie out of the shower she coughed and asked me if she had the swine flu. I asked where she had heard that and she replied "you say it all the time."

Prayer time at the Moore's house is always entertaining when it's Jackson's turn. One night Jackson prayed "God our Father please help Mommy go to the grocery and get me Sprite."

Jackson started soccer a couple of weeks ago. We took him with us to the meeting and on the way home I was explaining to him how things would work. He got really upset when he realized that we were leaving and he was not going to get to play that night. He kept crying "I want to play soccer. I'm a soccer player," Once he calmed down I told him that his team was the Cheetahs. He then began to chant "I'm a cheater, oh yeah I'm a cheater."

Fishy, Fishy in...our Pool?!?

Although our neighborhood pool has not officially closed for the fall, there are rumors it may close early due to a fish sighting last Saturday. These two little fish have sworn off floatation devices and dive right in. Ellie learned to swim earlier this summer, but Jackson decided to give it a try a couple of weeks ago.

Back To School

Yesterday marked the start of a new school year for Ellie and Jackson. They both seem to be adjusting very well. Jackson's teacher is Ms. Katherine. Ellie had Ms. Katherine last year, so we already knew she was great.

Ellie's teacher is Ms. Rhonda. We have been very impressed with her already. She seems to know how to handle Ellie's OCD and perfectionism.

I love watching my children grow and learn.

Laurie Beth and Andy's Wedding

Last weekend the Moore's traveled to Sylacauga for Laurie Beth and Andy's wedding. It was such a beautiful wedding and fun weekend. However, it was a very busy weekend so I didn't have a chance to take many pictures. I did manage to get a couple pictures of the world's cutest flower girl and handsome ring bearer.

Ok, so not everything went according plan. Moments before the wedding began Jackson had a major melt down and decided that it was too hot, his shoes were too small and he could not walk out there. After pleading with him effortlessly throughout the entire processional it was his turn to go. As a last ditch effort, I gave him a shove and told him to go. Miraculously he grabbed his sister's hand and went. I was shocked! He stood up there (and I use stood loosely because he stooped, squatted and bent over bootie in air) the whole time. Ellie saw her brother stooped over and slid slowly over to him and placed her hand on his elbow to lift him up. She then resumed her position on her side of the stairs. Throughout the ceremony Jackson would place his hands over his ears and say "my feet are hurting and my ears are burning". Despite the hurting and the burning the Moore's were happy to get to be a part of Laurie Beth and Andy's special day.

FREEDOM

For the Moore's, July was a time to embrace and celebrate our freedoms.

The month began with a short visit with my parents from Pennsylvania. We enjoyed getting to show them around Tuscaloosa.

On July 4th we celebrated our independence with a few close friends, time at the pool, a cookout, a very cute puppy named Buckley, and a few sparklers.

All summer the kids have been enjoying freedom from daycare and I have declared my independence from cooking and cleaning thanks to the arrival of Nana (My Mom) in June.

As if I was not spoiled enough having been relieved of my household duties, I got to enjoy a little freedom from work at the beach with my Dad, stepmom, Ellie, Jackson, and my nephews Zachary and Ethan.

The weekend after we returned from the beach, we were very blessed to host three girls and their counselor from Kenya. The girls were members of the Daraja African Children's Choir. My time spent with these precious children was a blessed reminder of the freedom I have in Christ. The joy these children possess despite their circumstances is truly God-given and inspirational.

Before July was over I was able to get away one last time and attend my cousin's wedding. Talk about freedom - no kids, no husband, no responsibilities.

Unfortunately "All good things must come to an end." July will soon be gone and Nana is headed back to SC very soon. We have had an awesome summer but i am looking forward to the new school year. That's all for now, gotta go buy some school supplies.

Reasons Not To Blog

Ok, so for those of you who are regular readers of The More Family Blog, may be feeling a little neglected. However, the truth is we have been not been neglecting our blogging duties. In fact, we have been very busy compiling and exhausting list of the top reasons people do not blog.

1. We could not blog because we were in Jamaica on a mission's trip

2. There's no blogging down on the farm. For Ellie's fourth birthday and Jack's third birthday we had a cowboy/cowgirl themed party at the Barnyard.

3. You can't blog at the beach because you might get sand in your computer.

4. WE'VE MOVED!!!

So as you can see April and May have been very busy for the Moore Family. We have been enjoying the start of our summer. The kids have been in SC for almost two weeks and we are ready for them to come home. We are looking forward to a great summer.

Hippity Hoppity Easter's On It's Way

Since Scott and I will not be here for Easter, I dressed the kids up in their Easter outfits and took them to get some pics this afternoon. Jackson was being so silly, so we called it quits early and went to get some TCBY. Let me just post a disclaimer and say that very little of this session was staged. What can I say they are just naturals.
