Our Special Day

Today I celebrated my fifth Mother's Day. Five years ago today I gave birth to a little girl. I had always dreamed about being a Mommy, but I could never have dreamed about how much one little girl would change my life. In the weeks leading up to Ellie's fifth birthday, I would fake cry whenever we would discuss her age. The truth is she is so amazingly talented and I am looking forward to seeing what life's journey has for her.

To celebrate Ellie's birthday we took her and a friend to the zoo on Friday.

And the celebrating continued today with cake, games and presents.

The one thing my little rockstar wanted more than anything was a purple guitar. I was so excited that we were able to find her one.

As I was walking around at the zoo, in 90 degree heat, carrying a five pound backpack, I began to comprehend all the little things that Mom's do that go unnoticed. Moms are cooks, chauffeurs, maids, laundresses, seamstresses, hair stylists, event planners, coaches, teachers, and many other things. Thanks Mom for all the things you've done for me. I love you!!!

My Two Four Year Olds

On Friday my baby boy turned four. This little guy has an infectious giggle. People just want to be around him. Though a little performance shy, he loves to make people laugh. He hates to be alone. He's always looking for a companion to play with but occasionally finds solace in Lightning McQueen and Buzz Lightyear. A race car, a space ranger and a little boy named Gavin Drew Summers are my little guys best friends. His favorite movie is "Toy Story", favorite color is red and favorite song is "We Will Rock You". My tech savy kid loves movies and video games. I have always called Jack my little buddy but these days a more appropriate nick name would be little Scott. He looks and acts just like his father. I love this little boy so much. He has brought so much laughter and joy into my life.

On Friday we celebrated Jackson's birthday with ice-cream sundaes for his class...

lunch at Chuck-E-Cheese...

a game of bowling...

tacos for dinner...

a cookie cake...

and presents.

All of this adds up to one tired four year old little boy.

Resurrection

So, I decided that it was time to resurrect this old blog and bring life back to it. There's no better way to start than by posting a few pics from Easter.

We had a wonderful Easter and were truly blessed to have my parents here for a visit.

HOLIDAZE

I remember going to sleep the Tuesday before Thanksgiving, excited that my family would be arriving from SC in just a few hours and frustrated that I had to work the next day. When I awoke at 5 AM, I reached for my phone to silent the alarm. Sleepily, I read the date that was displayed across the top of my phone...January 5, 2010!!! For me the Holidays were a Holidaze. The 2009 Holiday season went by so fast that it seems as though it was all just dream.

During my sleep I believe I dreamed that I hosted Thanksgiving dinner at my home this year, 11 people slept in my house, we exchanged Christmas gifts and had family pictures taken. Oh wait I have the pictures to prove that this really happened.

One of Ellie's Christmas gifts from Nana and Poppy was getting her ears pierced. She was scared but so brave.

In my dreams I had visions of...
Visiting Santa and shopping trips to the mall

Christmas Decorations and cute Christmas outfits

Visits from Santa's Elf

Baking Christmas cookies

Christmas parties (dressed in tacky Christmas outfits)

Time spent with family

Christmas presents

And two very excited kids

Eventhough I feel as though I blinked and the Holiday Season had past, my heart feels full and happy. Our family had a great Thanksgiving and celebrated a wonderful Christmas season together.
