We had a wonderful time today at the Birmingham Zoo celebrating Ellie and Jackson's birthday. We arrived at the Zoo at 9:45 AM and they took us to the birthday room.
Once inside the animal encounter began. They brought out several animals for the kids to touch. For Dada's sake there were no snakes allowed.
After we said goodbye to the animals, we blew out the candles on our monkey cake. Everybody had a piece of cake and some ice cream. It was delicious.
When we finished our cake we headed down for a train ride around the zoo. Our next stop was over to the lake to feed the fish and then to the carousel. Around 12 noon we decided to grab a bite to eat in the cafateria and that is where we opened our gifts. Ellie and Jackson got some wonderful things and have already enjoyed playing with many of them. Once the gifts were opened it was time to see the animals. By this point Jackson was bearly hanging on. He managed to stay awake through the petting zoo and the reptile house, but it wasn't long until he was asleep. However, he did wake up in time to see a buffalo, the giraffes, and the zebras.
Ellie, however, hung on strong. She really loved seeing the animals. The elephant was silly and surprisingly the alligator was not scary. But the birds were. While Dada and Ellie were feeding the birds Ellie tried to pet it and it bit her. Here is the result of that encounter. It was a great party and we hope everyone had a wonderful time.

Sr. Night
It's A Boy
Brothers and Sisters
I love watching my two little sweeties play together.
When I was little, my brother and I use to play together. I would tell him that if he would play dolls or dress up with me for 1 hour I would play with him for 20 minutes. After all 20 is bigger than 1. I use to dress him up in skirts and fashion his hair in all kinds of unique styles. As you can see it appears as though my own daughter is submitting her little brother to a similar torture. However, I don't think Prince Jack objects.
Although Ellie may occassionally dress her brother up she is a good Mama, to her dolls and to her brother (most of the time).

Why We Love Sundays
Ellie loves Sundays because she gets to wear a princess dress. Every dress she puts on she twirls around and says "pincess". Jackson loves Sundays because he gets to eat a big lunch. Ellie loves Sundays because she get to play with her friends in the nursery. Jackson loves Sundays because he gets to go to the nursery and get a snack. Ellie loves Sundays because she likes to make crafts. Jackson likes Sundays because when the nursery staff switches for the next hour he gets another snack. Ellie loves Sundays because before church starts Aunt Gail holds her and lets her sing in the choir. Jackson loves Sundays because he gets to church before the other kids so the nursery workers sneek him a donut. And that's why we love Sundays.

Happy LATE Birthday Pappy Steve
I've done it again. Once again, I have forgotten my Dad's birthday. Ellie & Jackson are embarressed and wish I would stop making them look bad. They think that it would be fun to have a big birthday party for everyone when we are this summer. Happy Birthday Pappy Steve. We love you.
As a tribute to Pappy Steve, Jackson is doing Pappy Steve's famous pick your nose pose in this picture.

Happy To You
Tonight Grandma and Grandpa Moore threw all the grandkids a birthday party. It started with a scavenger hunt. Everytime Grandma rang the bell all the kids ran to her to find out where the treasure was hidden.
The first party favor was a mug for each kid to color hidden in the dryer.
The next favors were light chasers hidden under the couch.
There were bubbles hidden in the bathtub.
The last party favor was hidden in the shower.
We ate cake. Ellie really liked the cake. After the party was over we heard a little voice from the table singing "Happy to you" as she stuck her finger in the cake and licked the icing off her finger.
We opened lots of gifts. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for the great gifts and party.

Fun In The Sun
This morning after breakfast we told Ellie that we were going to the beach. After a few minutes she ran to the door crying beach beach. Apparently we were taking to long to get ready.
I tried to tell her that she couldn't go to the beach because she wasn't ready. That's when I looked down at her ankles and noticed that she had gotten her bathing suit and put it on as best she could.
Here is a picture of the Moore family at Cape Coral Beach in FL.
Jackson loved sitting in the edge of the water holding a shovel. It wasn't until later that I realized why he loved it so much. I caught him eating the sand and using the shovel as a giant spoon.
Ellie loved playing in the sand too. She spent her time dilligently working on building a castle. However, I don't think she actually ever built one.
They both loved playing in the water. We hade a wonderful morning at the beach.
